The BNY Mellon Asian Equity Fund follows an unconstrained, concentrated stock picking approach within a thematic framework and is managed by Jason Pidcock, director of Asian Pacific ex-Japan equities at Newton Investment Management. Newton is ideally placed to manage the fund as its thematic approach to investment is ideally suited to today's dynamic Asian markets.
Fund highlights:
Managed by top-tier London asset management firm, Newton.
Invests in developed countries benefiting from the region's growth (Australia, New Zealand and Singapore) and developing ones (China, Taiwan and Korea)
Multi-cap non-index driven portfolio where extreme bets are avoided
Concentrated portfolio of 60-70 stocks with no use of gearing, hedging or derivatives
Exposure to Asia's growth industries. Selects stocks with growth potential but at reasonable prices
Favours investment in efficient Asian companies with a good business model and strong corporate governance policies
Research and stock selection are driven by the global themes identified by Newton's investment team
Although there are no specific tracking error parameters defined, this is monitored extensively and used as a tool in risk control
Investment objective
To achieve long-term capital growth through investment primarily (meaning at least two thirds of the sub-funds assets) in a portfolio of equity and up to one third of the sub-fund's assets in a portfolio of equity related securities of companies located in Asia (excluding Japan) or deriving a preponderant part of their income therefrom.
